The Department of Radiology and Imaging, at PULSE, is one of the most well equipped and state of the art departments, in the country today.

All imaging procedures are performed, keeping the patient safety in mind, and care is taken to ensure that results of the highest quality are obtained while minimizing the patient exposure to radiation.

Every procedure is undertaken under the supervision of our team of highly qualified and experienced Radiologists, to ensure that the results are clinically relevant and enable better diagnosis.

All lab reports are given the same day. Hormones and other special tests are given out in 3 hours time. Whereas all other labs give reports only by late evening. Pulse has fully automated lab equipment; hence the accuracy levels are very high.

Digital X-Ray

Direct Radiology is the form of Radiography that uses  X-Ray sensitive place to directly capture data during the patient examination, immediately transferring to computer system without using cassettes.  

Direct Digital X-Ray allows instant display of images, while the lack of artifacts and image loss allows radiologists to make quick and confident diagnoses. Patient X-Ray doses are reduced and retakes are elimanated.

Preparations

  • No special preparation is required for X-rays except for procedures and X-ray of abdomen.
  • Diabetic patient should take an appointment as early as possible and inform the centre of the same.
  • For a HSG (Hysterosalpinogram) 3 hours of fasting is necessary. The X-ray should be performed on the 6th or 7th day of the cycle.
  • It is advisable to come in comfortable clothes.
  • Please bring along reports of any prior X-ray.
  • X-rays can be harmful to the developing fetus in a pregnant women. Therefore it is advisable for pregnant women to inform the doctor of their condition.

Mammography

Mammography is a process of using Low Energy X-Ray to examine the human breast for diagnosis and screen.

The Goal of Mammography is the early detection of the breast cancer and microcalcification .

Some growths are very small or lie deep in the breast tissue making it hard to detect. While some growths are benign (non cancerous); others may be malignant (cancerous). Mammography can pick up thiese growths before they are large enough to be felt. When cancer is found in this early stage, it is easier to treat and can be cured.

Preparations

  • No special preparation is required for mammography.
  • At Pulse, Mammography is usually followed by a sono mammography which helps is providing a better diagnosis for the patient.
  • We have female technicians who will be assisting you. Please carry your previous reports.

Ultrasound / Color Doppler

Ultrasound (also term Sonography, Ultrasonography and Doppler Study) is a non invasive diagnostic medical technique that uses High- frequency sound waves to produce imgaes of the internal structural of the body. This sound waves are not detected by human hearing.The Difference between 3D & 4D is that the 4D is like a video showing motion of a 3D image.

Knowing you have all the information you need for definitive answers. As much as the machine the man behind the machine is also important. Together, Pulse has transformed patient care using ultrasound in brand new ways.

Preparations

Sonography of Pelvis

  • Patient should consume 3 - 4 glasses of water ½ to 1 hour prior to examination. Urine collects in the bladder over this time. Excessive water should not be consumed as it may lead to vomiting and does not serve the purpose.
  • Full bladder permits better evaluation of the urinary bladder itself, the prostate gland and seminal vesicles in males and the uterus, ovaries and adnexa in females.
  • Gall Bladder study requires overnight fasting.
    All other examinations do not require any specific preparation.

Sonography of Pregnancy 

  • Full bladder is required upto 10 - 12 weeks of pregnancy. The urinary bladder need not be very full thereafter.
  • There are no clothes restrictions. It is advisable to wear something loose and comfortable.

 

Preparations

Orthopantomogram (OPG)

X-rays use radiation to take pictures of bones and other parts inside the body. An OPG is a panoramic X-ray of the upper and lower jaws, including the teeth. The OPG unit is specifically designed to rotate around the patient’s head during the scan. An OPG will take approximately 20 seconds.

An OPG can be used to look for

  • Fractures
  • Dislocated jaw
  • Infection
  • Dentition (teeth)

It can also be used for surgical planning.
